Changes

It’s that time of year where I obsessively check the Whistler Blackcomb webcam and the Duffy Lake Road mountain weather forecast for any sign of new snow. All the trails in Squamish are covered in fall leaves and the hills around town are starting to show white creeping further downhill.

I’ve been in full swing studying for my comprehensive exams so have been relatively adventureless. I did however manage to sneak out for a dawn mission to get my first ski turns of the year a few days ago. We got a good ski in on October 2nd – the earliest ever for me. Paul is home from school on break and we had big plans to do some alpine rock climbing but the weather mad it clear that was not going to happen. Late in the evening via a text exchange, I proposed a ski the next day. Paul hadn’t brought his skis up from school so I suggested he borrow mine. He said sure – see you in the morning. A done deal.

Last weekend was supposed to be the Rubble Creek Classic race but was postponed due to severe weather. I am looking forward to racing this weekend but things are looking snowy for the course and some prep for the conditions will definitely be necessary.

Not much more to report. Laying low until exams on the 18th and then hopefully winter will be in full swing and it will be ski time!
