Trail DST Jacket and Dynafit Summer Clothing Review

This spring, I got a big care package from Dynafit with some of their new summer goodies. I already posted a review of the Pantera shoes on SkinTrack.com but here is a bit about some of the clothing.

This is a comfortable jacket that fits well. I suspect it must be DWR treated as it seems to repel water pretty well in light spitting rain – possibly even better than similar wind jackets. Obviously it won’t keep you dry in a downpour but that is not what is is designed to do! It is definitely breathable enough to jog in when it’s chilly. I was stoked to find that unlike most jackets, the sleeves are actually long enough for my arms. This makes it great for reaching activities (climbing). The hood fits over a helmet so you can stay a bit warmer when it is really chilly. The pocket on the front fits a cell phone or a few gel packets.

The only complaint I have is that it does not stuff into it’s own pocket for storage. This is an important feature on similar jackets that can be stuffed into the breast pocket and take up very little space in a pack or can be clipped to a harness.

Overall the DST Jacket is great for running and skiing year round. A jacket like this is always in my pack.

Trail DST Shorts & Shirt

The Trail DST Shorts are a comfortable pair of workout shorts that are slightly longer than my usual running shorts and without a liner. They are great for at the gym or to change into after a workout. I have also run in them a few times when I wanted a bit more coverage for bushy trails. They fit true to size and are made from a comfortable fabric that is breathable and stretchy. The shorts could use a small side pocket for gels or keys. The rear zip pocket is nice for keys or something very small but not much more.

The matching shirt is good quality and comfortable, possibly running slightly large (I am usually a medium but I think a small would have been a better choice). The fabric is fairly heavy so it is well suited for chilly or rainy days. Comfortable seams, light color and it didn’t get destroyed in the washer – can’t really ask for more than that.

I’m really happy with this summer clothing from Dynafit – especially in cooler weather and in the alpine. Check it out – you might be surprised they make more then skis. Get it all on Backcountry.com.
